Donkey Topics & Issues
Return to Donkeys main
page
Donkeys are equine animals but are, most emphatically, neither horses nor ponies. This website deals with them separately, in recognition of their special requirements and biology.
Owing to the continued widespread use of donkeys as beasts of burden, in
certain regions, there are many places in the world where donkey welfare can be improved.
Mules and Hinnies are neither donkeys nor horses but, as they are infertile crosses between the two,
their interests can be served jointly by the horses and the donkeys pages.
Foot trimming can be a major issue. If donkeys are kept
under conditions that do not keep their feet naturally worn, regular checking
and trimming is vital.
