Use of homeopathy on the farm has proved to be a revelation. Farm animals are inevitably under pressure and are often kept in less than ideal conditions, making them a fertile ground for disease. Because of numbers and crowding, infectious diseases can spread readily. We started using homeopathy on the farm in a regular way from about 1980 and we have found that farm animals and farm diseases respond very well to homeopathic treatment. In fact, when we had a general farm practice, many herds and flocks were able to run on homeopathic treatment, to the almost total exclusion of conventional drugs, antibiotics, hormone treatments etc. (see Research). At the time, there were no organic farms in the practice, although we have since found that homeopathy is eminently suitable for use on organic farms.

Homeopathy is safe to give to any type of farm animal at any stage. Assuming no mastitis or udder disease or disease affecting the quality of milk, milk is fit for human consumption during treatment. Homeopathic medicines are not dangerous during pregnancy or lactation.

Animals can be given homeopathic medicines individually by mouth, by injection or via the vaginal mucus membrane. En masse, animals can be dosed via their drinking water supply (although special considerations apply, to ensure the viability of the medicine under different systems and conditions) or they can be sprayed over the face, while running through a 'race'. These methods are incredibly cost-effective, whether in labour, in time or in medicine costs. They are also stress-free for the animals. In-feed medication presents many challenges, not all of which can be overcome.

A massive unseen benefit of using homeopathy on the farm is that it cannot generate antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Resistant bacterial populations (e.g. MRSA) are rightly becoming of great concern to the National health Service and to the public at large.

Mr Day has more than 38 years of experience in farm homeopathy. He has also conducted clinical research, much of which was farm-based.
