Shark Cartilage

Shark cartilage is a much-prized material, for inclusion in nutritional health products and nutraceuticals. However, because the developed Western World is willing to pay what are massive amounts to less well-to-do areas of the World, for remedial products to soothe our often self-inflicted ills, 'harvesting' methods can be downright unethical and inhumane (cruel). There are stories of sharks being caught, their fins amputated while they are alive and them being chucked back into the sea to await their fate.

Unless you can be sure of an ethical, humane and decent source for shark cartilage, our advice is:-

DON'T BUY SHARK CARTILAGE or products containing shark cartilage (incl. some 'chondroitin' products).
