Referrals

VETERINARY ACUPUNCTURE is the treatment of animals with acupuncture by a fully-qualified veterinary surgeon (veterinarian). The law (Veterinary Surgeons Act) dictates that only vets may legally treat animals other than their own with acupuncture. At the last communication with the RCVS, it was also stated that it is illegal for acupuncture to be administered by a veterinary nurse.

Veterinary Acupuncture is adaptable to treat any species, whether mammal, reptile or bird.

At the AVMC, we commonly treat horses, ponies, cats and dogs.

Acupuncture for animals (veterinary acupuncture) has developed from the same principles as those laid down for the treatment of humans, as devised by the Ancient Chinese (Traditional Chinese Medicine). Let no one tell you it is not a medical system but only treats pain. This is nonsense. Used in a properly holistic way, as it was devised to be used all those centuries ago, incorporating environment, diet and lifestyle optimisation along with internal medicine (e.g. herbs or homeopathy), veterinary acupuncture can treat a wide variety of disease, both acute and chronic.

Putting the patient first

The AVMC, founded by holistic vet Chris Day, in 1987, is a centre of excellence for the delivery of professional homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine, chiropractic and other natural therapies, for the treatment of animals of all species, types and breeds.

Christopher Day qualified as a vet in 1972, having also ‘home-studied’ homeopathy throughout his college years. He had treated himself with homeopathy for injuries and ailments since the age of eleven or twelve and started using veterinary homeopathy on his patients from his graduation. He has used veterinary acupuncture since 1980.

In the interests of being able to give unfettered and impartial advice, the AVMC and Chris Day receive no kick-backs or sponsorship from industry or commerce, market no products and promote no commercial interest. Our advice is not attended by pushing sales of product. In this way, we are able to offer the best and most impartial/independent advice we can, at any stage and on any topic, updating our outlook in accordance with ongoing development, research and awareness.
