Video Consultations – for distant patients
A Video Consultation Service is offered by the AVMC
for clients who cannot bring their animals for reasons of disability, illness, distance,
foreign residence, animal’s inability to travel etc. and in support of local vets
Obviously, we prefer to see patients in the flesh, so that we can perform a full holistic examination and enquiry. Sometimes, however, this may not be possible (e.g. extreme weather, extreme distance, owner’s illness, owner’s disability, patient’s inability to travel, foreign residence). Under such circumstances, we can try to help by setting up a real-time video link, via your webcam. This is a way of supporting the local veterinary practice with the added dimension of holistic input, in circumstances in which it would otherwise be impossible, in our joint endeavour to bring the best of care to the patient. Our office can guide you through this process.
We usually travel to see horses at their homes. However, this may clearly be impossible, for some of the above reasons and it may therefore be possible for us to offer constructive assistance by video link (webcam).
This can also provide assistance for those ‘owners’ who can make the journey once but for whom it would be very difficult to travel for follow-up.
We have treated animals (dogs, cats, horses etc.) in the distant and remote parts of the UK and its islands and abroad in USA, in Canada, in Australia, in South Africa, in Hong Kong and in continental Europe, in support of local veterinary surgeons (veterinarians). The service is especially useful for those for whom English is the native tongue, including British ex-pats in Spain, France, Italy etc. but we have part-understanding of other European languages. This on-line service is capable of extending worldwide, making it a truly international option, wherever you live.
Medicines and instructions are usually sent out within one working day following the appointment.
N.B.: We cannot offer this service without receiving veterinary clinical records or a letter from the patient’s usual veterinary surgeon (veterinarian) – Mr Day writes to your veterinarian, after prescribing. Also, we clearly cannot provide any of our ‘hands-on’ treatments in this way (e.g. Acupuncture, LASER, Ultrasound, Chiropractic manipulation), although herbal medicine, homeopathy, bach flowers, tissue salts and aromatherapy can be discussed.
Please telephone the office during office hours, to make an appointment and to find out requirements for advanced paperwork etc. An estimate of costs can also be offered. Actual appointments cannot be made by email, fax or letter.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 09:00 – 17:00 [UK time] (not bank holidays)
Tuesday: 09:00 – 13:00 [UK time]
To check time correlations from outside the UK: WORLD CLOCK
N.B.: Owing to the rapidly changing ‘landscape’ of our diary, video link appointments cannot be made by fax, letter or e-mail.
