It appears that the toxic dose of grapes for a dog is around 30 g/kg and for raisins it is 11 - 30 g/kg. The damage is done to the kidney but the mechanism is not understood. While feeding grapes in moderation may be acceptable, the only really safe advice is don't. Work has been done to show that grapes can be dangerous for
dogs. This will come as a surprise to some who feed their dogs grapes but the
evidence is difficult to ignore, in spite of its counter-intuitive nature. The
same warning must be applied to raisins, currants and sultanas.
